Island
systems
Historically, photovoltaic modules have
found their first economic applications in island systems. Everywhere
where the public grid is missing but electrical energy is needed
photovoltaic power can be the better technical and economic solution.
Here, solar power does not need to compete against the usually cheap
price for fossil generated electricity from the grid, but can often
beat the cost of alternatives such as diesel generators or small
wind turbines.
Possible areas of application are e.g.
the supply of country resorts, fincas, relays stations, signal devices,
mountain huts or holiday retreats without connection to the public
grid.
The installation of a photovoltaic system
will save you money. And your nerves, as the solar system will emit
neither noise or fumes, nor do you have to remember to fill up the
diesel tank in time.
Certain countries even offer subsidies and cheap loan programmes
for such installations, e.g. Spain.
The design of island systems is complex
and requires a lot of know how and expertise. Different to grid
connected systems the plant itself must be able to react safely
to the different load requirements respectively to deliver the requested
electricity in total. High attention is to be paid to the exact
approximation of the load pattern for today and also as exact as
possible for the future. And this not only with respect to the total
demand per time unit, but also with regards to the load peaks and
their occurrence against the solar energy supply.
As a result, a multitude of systems
is feasible, be it with or without batteries, with or without AC
converter, with or without backup via motor operated generator or
even a wind turbine. By means of investigations, calculations and
simulations we will propose to you the technical and economic optimum
out of all options possible and work out a detailed solution. Of
course we will supply, install and commission the chosen system
and we can also offer regular maintenance works as well as emergency
services.

electricity demand can be reduced for your island grid. Then the
system can be designed smaller and cheaper. For example the exchange
of the lighting system or the replacement of an older refrigerator
with a more efficient one could be a very cost efficient solution.
