Waste to Power
In February 2010, Thai-German Carbon Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Sustainable Heat & Power Europe GmbH of Germany, and secured the contract to develop carbon credits for a biogas project in the new Veerachai Nongpong Farm, a large scale pig farm that is currently under construction. This contract with the farm owner VCF Group marks TGC’s first carbon management project just 2 month after its company registration.
The pig manure and barn flushing water will be channeled into the biogas plant where they will be treated anaerobically. Methane which is otherwise released to the atmosphere is captured within the plant. Guascor biogas motors which are to be supplied by Jiamphattana Energy International Co., Ltd., its exclusive distributor for Thailand, will then combust the methane and generate electricity from this regenerative energy source.
The VCF Group, already having one registered CDM project with the UNFCCC, wants to adopt a different business strategy for the new Veerachai Nongpong Farm. In this case, the farm operator has opted to engage TGC for supporting the VCF Group in all aspects from initial conceptualization and project assessment, project validation and verification services to the brokerage of the generated emission reduction certificates.
Setting foot in Thailand
End of 2009 Sustainable Heat & Power Europe GmbH (SHP) has successfully
entered the South-East Asian market by forming a joint venture company with
Jiamphattana Energy International Co., Ltd. (JE), a leading biogas company in
Thailand. The new company which is named Thai-German Carbon (TGC) Co., Ltd.

experience in biogas plants, its knowledge of the region and the excellent position
with potential customers combined with SHP’s engineering expertise will give TGC
great prospects in Thailand.
Megawatt Power at Mekong River
